La Maldición - Tinto de ValdilechaSpain
A wine originally called ' a red to drink', the juicy, fragrant Tempranillo is balanced with the acidity of the Malvar. With a slightly lighter colour, thanks to the addition of the white juice, this is best compared to an early drinking Rhone. Full of plump fruit and generous (but balanced) tannin.
The village of Valdelicha sits at 716m, old Tempranillo vines at 780m and Malvar vines at 733m. These vines are notoriously difficult to work (and reach), which is where the name La Maldición comes from, meaning 'The Curse'.
Both varieties are co-fermented for 20-25 days and then part aged in cement and part aged in 300l used French barrels.
