The Hermit Ram - Whole Bunch Pinot Noir 2017 11.5% 750ml BottleThe Hermit Ram
The Hermit Ram
Wine: Whole Bunch Pinot Noir
Region: Canterbury, New Zealand
Grape: Pinot Noir
The use of whole bunch helps to add floral aromatics and length to balance out the richness from the clay dominated soils.
Fresh, vivid and sappy with bright cherry and plum fruit.
Theo Coles happened across Gareth Renowden in 2012, the owner of the Limestone Hills vineyards in Waipara Gorge, north of Christchurch on New Zealand's South Island. Theo made a Pinot Noir from Gareth's close planted, naturally farmed vineyard, sitting on active Limestone. The wine got better and better and it was bottled in 2014.
The 'Hermit Ram' sums up the ethos of working with tiny sites and ancient techniques applied to New Zealand flavours.
A range of wines of depth, complexity, individuality and most importantly drinkability.
Farming and Winemaking
